Frodsham was well known for its clock makers. Thomas Moss (1740) lived in one of the cottages followed by the Seddon Bros. in the1780's and the Jackson's in the 1800's. Samuel Maddock had his Shop higher up Main Street in 1860. They were all enrolled members of the Clock Makers Company in London. These cottages were demolished about 1850, and a private boarding and day school built on the site (later to become the drill Hall). The principal was the Rev. Robert Pringle Borwick, the fee was £6 per quarter. It became the Manor House School where Prince Warabo, the son of the Ruler of Opobo came to be educated.
